Transitional Housing

Transitional Housing is a special program that provides an alternative to individuals facing jail time, or in transition following discharge from state psychiatric hospitals. The program relies on the collaboaration of serveral community partnerships and has been extremely successful since its inception in August of 2007.
Individuals who enter into our Transitional Housing program have a primary need of housing stabilization, as well as the need for skill building and other support in an effort to obtain/maintain permanent housing and increase community tenure while on their journey to mental health wellness.
Mecklenburg Open Door’s Transitional Living works in collaboration with the individual, their community support provider, and other supports (both formal and informal) to develop and assist in carrying out a person-centered plan.
