Mecklenburg Open Door, Inc. currently serves 36 residents in our Friendship Flight program, Phase I and Phase II.
What is Friendship Flight? Friendship Flight is a unique program that assists individuals on their mental wellness journey by providing individualized support to those transitioning from recent discharge from a psychiatric hospital. Phase I is the introductory phase and provides a higher intensity of contact with staff. Phase II is the progressive residential phase that allows for more independence and less supervision.
How long can I stay at Friendship Flight? The length of stay in our program varies anywhere from 90 days to 24 months depending on an individual’s unique needs.
Who is eligible? The program is open to adults who have a primary Mental Health diagnosis, who receive Community Support Services in Mecklenburg County and have been recently discharged from a psychiatric hospital.
Hours of service and locations: Friendship Flight is located at Charlottetown Manor in east Charlotte and is staffed on a 24 hour basis. Unless a consumer is away from the facility on Therapeutic Leave, hospitalized, or in-patient treatment, they receive daily contact from residential staff.
